The Awards Process
The start point in the awards process is reviewing and understanding the awards guideline. This guide clearly explains each category and the award process. The award process is divided into 4 activities; Entry, Selection of Finalist, Judging and Announcing Winners.
Step 1: Select up to 3 categories and register your interest.
Step 2: The awards team sends you all the official entry forms.
Step 3: Submit your entries before closing date.
Step 4: Shortlisted entries are announced.
Step 5: If you are shortlisted secure your finals place and ceremony seats within 15 days (free of charge).
Step 6: Prepare for the site visits and structured interviews on the project and initiative entered.
Step 7: The awards judges score your entry and report on site visits/interviews.
Step 8: Enjoy the ceremony and celebrate with your team.
Step 9: Receive your feedback report on how you were scored with comments.
The announcement and notification of the finalist is the first part of the judging process. The selection process of the finalist will be based on an initial scoring using preset criteria for each category. Each entry is scrutinized and scored by independent judges.
- Nomination evaluation
The judging committee evaluates all submissions and makes a shortlist of 3-5 organizations or individuals per category.
- Site Visits of finalist (Organization Category)
The judging committee will effectuate site visits to observe, ask questions and get a first-hand assessment of the nominee. During these visits, finalists get to showcase their projects, activities or actions.
- Interviews with the finalist (Individual Category)
The judging committee will interview the finalist of the individual category either onsite or online. These structured interviews are meant to provide finalists with an opportunity to showcase their expertise, passion and fit for the categories nominated.
- Judging committee brainstorming session
After the site visits, interviews and scoring of nominees’ judges will hold a brainstorming session to review each category and do a final scoring of each finalist based on a preset evaluation criterion for each category.
- Independent review
The final scoring of the finalist will be independently reviewed by an auditing firm to ensure that the due diligence was followed and the award process strictly respected. Names of winners will then be handed to the host of the awards gala.
Winners of the different categories will be announced during the awards gala. The awards gala will be a red carpet event in Douala, the heart of the economic capital of Cameroon. Winners will be handed trophies and allowed to express their feelings about the award. Short videos would be played to showcase the finalists’ activities, projects or programs that have permitted them to be finalists.
